RAPID CITY, SD (KEVN) – Staying home for the past year or the good weather might make you think about doing home renovations. Ace Hardware helps people find the perfect paint color for home projects.

Ace Hardware recently conducted a survey, showing that 84% of people surveyed have a room in their house they want to paint, and finding the perfect shade of paint is difficult for 22% of those people.

That’s why Ace Hardware held a “Saturday Sample” where customers chose different paint samples for their home to test for a potential DIY project.

Mike Johnson oversees the hardware department at Ace Hardware West in Rapid City. He said more people were investing time and money in home projects while they were staying at home during the pandemic.

“They were looking at the road and like, ‘well, I’m not going to have a vacation, or I won’t have a lot of time to do recreational things because everyone’s going to be stuck in there. “” Johnson mentioned. “So some of the money that they had budgeted for it, they think, ‘Well, we might as well paint the house.’ “

Spring temperatures can also make you think about making some changes to your home.

Ryan Tompkins works in exterior materials at Ace and said people are already coming to buy items for the warmer months.

“We have already sold a few sets of patio furniture, and we actually have ongoing sales with these patio furniture, and we expect to have more of them in the coming months, especially our greenhouse, folks. are really into it, ”Tompkins said. .

Ace employees say they hope the event can help people avoid postponing their home projects.
