A blogspot, www.encountermalawi.blogspot.com/, has been created that will display attractive and innovative images aimed at marketing Malawi’s tourism potential and is open to all Malawians to contribute these endearing photos.
The creator of the blogspot is Tobias Kumwenda, an IT professional, who says he will also be posting some articles and reviews from places of interest in Malawi, to which he also invites Malawians or interested tourists to contribute.
“So far it is seen by people across Malawi and the world – in Africa, Asia and Europe,” Kumwenda said. “Some Malawians in the diaspora are also helping to market the site to potential tourists they meet in their adopted countries.
“These are stories of life and travel in Malawi, told through images and their captions that will represent our slogan ‘Warm Heart of Africa’. It is like creating a library of what we have experienced on our visits across the country.
“There are some attractive places in Malawi that we photograph, but we do not share them so that others may be attracted to visit or stop at such places when we travel. This is what happened with me.
“I compiled the photos for over a year and posted them on social media like Facebook, but the idea came up that I should create the blogspot as a library that other Malawians and foreign tourists can. also contribute, ”he said.
He said contributors can send their photos, including their captions, to the email: [email protected].
When asked if he had approached the Tourism Ministry for a partnership from the tourism focused blog, Kumwenda said he had never thought of this line before, but I will be ready to align it. from that angle now that he’s been reminded.
“Yes, I think it’s a good idea and I’m going to approach the tourism department to see how we can best work together.
Most of the time when we travel we take it for granted when we pass certain places of interest, but this is the time to share with our relatives, friends and potential foreign tourists that Malawi is indeed the warm heart of. Africa.
“So I invite all Malawians and foreign tourists to participate in this blogspot and their photos and stories will be recognized. [with their bylines]. We are going to create a legacy just as the cavemen left paintings on their walls as a story.
“In this digital age, let’s take advantage of it by being a part of our present and past history so that the next generation is inspired to leave their own legacy in making Malawi even more beautiful to make the country a foreign tourist destination.
“Once we have created something interesting, we too will generate a culture of tourism among ourselves. We ourselves have to be the local tourists who can attract foreign tourists. We have this potential to market our Warm Heart of Africa, ”said Kumwenda.
