Coming straight from a market leader, here are the four tips for generating income with your website.
Drive traffic to your site using social media
The most important thing you can do to generate income from your website is to drive traffic to it. The more people who view your site, the more likely you are to generate revenue. Most websites online don’t have a conversion problem, they have a traffic problem. No one can buy from you if they don’t know you exist. Use platforms like LinkedIn and Twitter (especially Twitter feeds) to drive high-quality traffic to your corner of the internet – your website.
Watch data like a hawk
Once the traffic hits your site, you need to be vigilant about the data. David Riggs of Pneuma Media says, “Data is the key to understanding what works and what doesn’t on your website. Without data, you’re just shooting in the dark. Install Google Analytics on your site and check weekly (at a minimum) to see how people are interacting with your site. Look at things like average time on site, pages per visit, and bounce rate. These metrics will give you a good idea of whether or not people are finding what they are looking for on your site. If not, determine why and make the necessary changes.
Create an attractive offer
If you want people to buy from your website, you need to have a compelling offer. It means creating a product or service that people actually want and need. Take the time to research your target market and determine what they are looking for, and create an offer that takes away your own ego and focuses on your KPI success.
Don’t be afraid to brag
If you’re having success with customers, make sure it’s clearly stated on your website. If you have happy customers, display their logos or quotes on your homepage. If you made headlines, write a blog post about it and share it on your social media. The more you can show that you are a credible business that gets results, the more people are likely to do business with you.
