We understand that service outages or outages are quite common. But when an outage affects a massive user base, it’s worth pointing out.
Something similar is happening with the Santander Bank app and website as of this writing.
Over the past few hours, a proliferation of reports that the Santander Bank app and website is down, not working and showing a message saying “Whoops! Sorry something went wrong‘on the access people microblogging site – Twitter.
Take a look at what some of the complainants have to say:
The @santanderukhelp app is not working, online banking is not working, the card is refused? it’s off again for another day of carnage with Santander. (Source)

The problem only emerged after the recent overnight maintenance of the Santander mobile banking app, as one user pointed out.
Fortunately, the Santander Bank UK support team have confirmed that they are aware of the issue with the banking app and website not working or down.
Don’t worry, we’re monitoring service provider social media channels closely for more information on what might be causing this issue.
We will share relevant developments with you as we come across them. So stay tuned to this space for the latest information on the subject.
Update 1 (May 15)
The issue still has not been resolved, and Santander Bank Support responded to a user’s complaint stating that there was no timeline for the fix. Therefore, it may take a little longer to start working again.
Update 2 (August 20)
IST 3:21 p.m .: A portion of Santander bank users reported not being able to access the bank’s online banking and mobile banking services. Now it appears that the problem could be related to the Sky Broadband outage.
Update 3 (September 04)
IST 12:12: New reports on Twitter indicate that many Santander bank users are unable to use the app or website to access their accounts. Moreover, Downdetector also suggests that the service is currently down.

The Santander app and website are down. Also, I’ve noticed a lot of money seems to be missing from my balance for the past few months and then a day or two later it reappears with nothing pending. So strange (Source)

The bank has yet to make an official statement regarding the outage.
Update 4 (November 22)
11:48 am (IST): Downdetector has logged over 850 reports indicating that users are having issues with the Santander banking app. There is no official acknowledgment yet regarding the outage.
