Town of Norwood Announces Launch of New Coakley Middle School Project Website

NORWOOD – The Town of Norwood is pleased to announce the launch of a new website for the proposed Coakley Middle School project.

The website,, will serve as an official source of information for Norwood residents as they prepare to vote on the Proposal 2 1/2 debt exclusion associated with the project at the town hall. on March 14 and again in a ballot on April 4.

The new website features key project information, including current status, upcoming meetings, and frequently asked questions. The website also includes important documents related to the project, as well as recordings of past college building committee meetings. Several educational videos are available on the site for community members to learn more about the project process and background.

A news blog on the website will be regularly updated with the latest information and updates on the project. The site will also connect directly to city and school district social media pages to efficiently deliver the latest updates to the public.

Community members are urged to subscribe to the site to receive email alerts when new updates are posted on the website’s news blog.

A tax calculator is also featured on the website to allow residents to enter the value of their home and see the current estimated tax impact.

In 2017, Norwood Public Schools completed a district-wide facilities study to examine elementary and middle schools. Coakley Middle School was identified as the school with the most construction flaws.

The proposed new Coakley Middle School would open in 2025 for approximately 1,070 middle school students. The city is currently in the schematic design phase of the project which will establish the final scope and budget for the project.
