Year in Review: Our Favorite Syracuse TNIAAM Staff Articles of 2021

0

While I write quite a bit here, TNIAAM is truly a group effort and this place couldn’t work without the rest of the gang here. You’ve certainly read a lot of their contributions around the Syracuse Orange during the year 2021. But I still wanted to highlight the best posts from other writers and editors on the blog.

These aren’t listed below, but I’ve listed them chronologically just to see how the year went. Thank you to all of the TNIAAM staff for helping me and the site stay afloat despite all the curves we have thrown.

Syracuse women’s lacrosse season 2021: a true success story (Jean Orsenigo)

John puts a triumphant exclamation point on the Orange women’s lacrosse team’s 2021 season despite the team’s failure in the title game. Despite a tumultuous year around the sport of the League as a whole, the success of the WLAX team has been a definite bright spot.

Hello World: women’s sport is growing and no glass ceiling can stop them (Sara Stanley)

Former Orange women’s basketball editor Sara spoke about issues in women’s sport, both in terms of the treatment of athletes by the NCAA and by TV partners. It’s an interesting read that 2022 will have to answer (especially when it comes to the NCAA tournament).

Beginning of the Conclave of the Council of 44 (Kevin Mur)

The 44-bit Council was a big distraction from Syracuse by avoiding handing Sean Tucker 44 all year round, and besides it was a great example of jokes and garbage if I’ve seen one before. It would also have been too easy to rely on Kevin’s good work to follow Jim Boeheim’s wardrobe instead.

Someone needs to get Syracuse’s other wide receivers involved in the passing game (Christian De Guzman)

This was before Taj Harris left through the transfer portal. But Christian identified some of the bigger issues surrounding the Orange offense before they became debilitating later in 2021.

What training decisions really cost Syracuse football the game against Wake Forest? (Andy Pregler)

Remember when we could identify a few decisions like Syracuse’s football problems after a loss? Good time. Andy looked at some of the decisions that helped create a loss for Orange against Wake Forest.

The unsolved mystery of how Mario & Salvo’s pizza place became the designated post-game meal for Syracuse basketball (James Szuba)

I don’t want to reduce James’s contributions here to a “fair” article on pizza, but this kind of piece is exactly the kind of thing that makes me appreciate TNIAAM. It’s also one of the most played songs of the year here.

Syracuse 2021 football season report card: offensive line (Steve Haller)

Thanks to Steve for reviewing every game every season with a keen eye on offensive line play. While this year has certainly improved over the past couple of seasons, it’s still a big push and these coins always end up teaching me something I didn’t know about specific players or online play. global.

Vonn Read’s dilemma (Jonathan Kinane)

Yes, a recent addition, but a good one considering the unique situation Syracuse women’s basketball finds itself in right now. We’re obviously not rooting against the team as they continue to win. But the more that happens, the stranger it all gets as the sports department looks to its future.

***

And that only scratches the surface of what TNIAAM staff did in 2021. So if a part wasn’t included here, that doesn’t mean it lacked quality. There was just a lot of good stuff to read here over the past 12 months. Hopefully, re-reading the above articles will also lead you to rediscover others contributed by all of our writers. Thanks again for being here with us.
